Volcán is the highest point in Panama and a top preferred destination for retirees. It is located 45 minutes away from the city of David (capital of Chiriqui Province) and is home for Volcán Baru, the only volcano in Panama which is currently inactive (hence the town’s name). How to get to Volcán, Panamá
You can get to Volcán, Panamá by either plane or land. Flights to David (capital of Chiriquí) are operated by Air Panama (www.flyairpanama.com) and costs $160 ($120 for senior citizens and children). There are three departure and three arrival flights during the day. Flights leave from Albrook Airport, the local airport in Panama City. If you come from another country, you must get a cab from the International Airport of Tocumen to Albrook Airport in able to get your flight. Remember to plan accordingly to be at least an hour prior to the trip. You can also travel to David by car, through the Interamericana (min. 6 hours drive).
Once you get to David, you must drive to Volcán. Several car rentals are found near the David Airport for you to choose. You can also look for public transport.
